Carbon Reduction Plan

Since establishing our carbon footprint baseline in 2020, we have continued to strengthen our approach to climate action through improved emissions reporting, renewable energy investment and supply chain collaboration. Renewable electricity now covers all UK branches, supported by solar panel installations at six sites, while trials of electric vehicles and green diesel continue to help reduce operational emissions.

Like much of the fresh produce sector, the majority of our carbon footprint sits within Scope 3 emissions. Improving the measurement and management of these emissions remains one of the biggest challenges in reaching Net Zero. To support this, we have joined the BRC Mondra Coalition, working with industry partners to improve the consistency of sustainability data and accelerate carbon reduction across food supply chains.

Alongside operational improvements, we continue to invest in colleague engagement through the Go Green sustainability programme. Since its launch in 2023, the initiative has provided training, communications and knowledge-sharing opportunities across the business, helping to build a culture where sustainability is understood and embedded in everyday decision-making.

Our commitment extends beyond carbon reporting. We complete annual EcoVadis sustainability assessments to measure progress across environmental, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement activities. We also continue to support projects with growers and suppliers focused on future farming practices, water stewardship, waste reduction and climate resilience.

Looking ahead, we will continue to work across our operations and supply chain to improve sustainability data, reduce emissions and support our goal of reaching Net Zero by 2050.
