Dole UK retail is committed to supporting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and protecting fundamental rights of workers. We want everyone in our supply chain to know their rights, be free from exploitation and have access to remediation.
As such we decided that in October we would run some workshops for our employees so that they are aware of the potential for worker exploitation and continually engage with other stakeholders within the industry to mitigate the risk of exploitation
Our workshops set out with the objectives for employees to:
- understand that modern slavery is a significant issue that needs to be addressed
- feel compelled to help prevent modern slavery by understanding how to spot the signs and what to do if you spot them
- feel proud to be working for a business that is working to help prevent slavery
As well well as having an overview of Modern Slavery we also updated on our Dole Ethical Values:
- Due Diligence and Transparency
- Embedded Ethical Trade & Changing Mindset
- Mitigate Modern Slavery
- Capacity Building & Resilience in the Supply Chain
- Empowering Workers & Enhancing Livelihoods
What to do if you suspect someone of being a victim of modern slavery:

Within our business or a supplier of Dole:
- Speak to a trusted manager or ethical trade manager
- Speak to HR or senior manager
- Report to Dole Integrity line – this can be found in the Dole Code of Conduct
Outside of our business activities:
- Call the Modern Slavery Helpline (Unseen) – 08000121700
- Call the Gangmaster & Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) on 08004320804
